Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

At Maressa Tulipano Counselling, we stand firmly against all forms of discrimination and oppression. We recognize our responsibility as mental health professionals to actively promote equity, diversity, and inclusion while confronting systemic barriers that impact marginalized communities.

Our practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and intersectional approach that honors the unique experiences and identities of each individual. We proudly create an affirming and culturally safe environment for:

• Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)

• Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, and Gender-Diverse individuals (2SLGBTQ+)

• Persons with disabilities

• Individuals of all faiths, spiritual beliefs, and cultural backgrounds

• People of all socioeconomic backgrounds and citizenship statuses

• Veterans, military service members and first responders

We acknowledge that meaningful inclusion requires ongoing commitment and action. Our practice actively works to:

• Provide equitable access to mental health services

• Maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace

• Challenge systemic barriers and unconscious biases

• Ensure culturally responsive and affirming care

• Create a therapeutic environment where clients can authentically be themselves

Our commitment to anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice extends beyond our therapy rooms into our broader community engagement and advocacy work. We welcome accountability from our clients and community members as we continuously strive to enhance our inclusive practices.

You are welcome here, exactly as you are. Your lived experiences, identity, and journey are valued and respected at Maressa Tulipano Counselling.
